****Put this date in your book: 2/27 - that's when my trio, with Olaf and Dan, is playing again at Yamamori's. Here's a big-time gig: In March from 3/3, 3/5 -3/7, I'm playing at the Monterey Jazz Bash with Jaxon Stock's band, "Taking Stock" and also the wonderful Clicktrax Jazz Orchestra on 3/4. Also on 3/26, I'm teaching a clinic at the Santa Cruz Jazz Festival. I'm playing for the fine folks at OakTree Villa on 3/13 & 4/10. Every Sunday, I play for the beautiful Service at Westhope Presbyterian in Saratoga. And, every Sunday - join us at the Santa Cruz Jazz Society's great Jam Session at Bocci's (not there 2/7 & 2/14)!
TAKING STOCK WITH JACKSON STOCK I am very fortunate to be playing with "Taking Stock" a great Dixieland/Swing band at the Monterey Jazz Bash from March 3, 5 - 7. We will be playing 10 shows during this time. The band features some of Monterey's finest musicians and Jackson's superb charts. The musicians are: Jackson on tromone and tuba; Billy Jones, drums, Gary Meek, saxes, Steve Uccello, bass and Corey Gemme, trumpet (from LA - not in photo).
Jackson Stock grew up in Monterey, California, in a musical family where both parents were accomplished musicians. At an early age he was an integral part of the family group, the Abalone Stompers that went on to develop quite a local reputation. Jackson is well-known for his great music arrangements. This band is happening!
SCOTT JOPLIN'S SOLACE BY MARTAN MANN Here's a recording of me playing Solace by Scott Joplin. I learned it to play a special feature at the Monterey Jazz Bash. I also will be playing "Kitten on the Keys" by Zez Confrey and some special boogie woogie. (Turn off the audio at the top of this page to hear this recording).
RECORDING AND REHEARSAL FOR VOCALISTS
I want to remind vocalists that I can provide rehearsal and recording services. I have a beautiful Yamaha C7 and excellent recording equipment. It's quick and easy to record a demo or complete CD. CD artwork is also available.
